EU ambassadors meet senior military officials in Brussels to discuss Europe’s contribution to a UN peacekeeping force.

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad rejects Israel’s suggestion that UN troops patrol the Lebanese-Syrian border to stop the smuggling of arms to Hezbollah. It would be interpreted as a “hostile act”, he says.
