Govt plans to divest 4.75 pc stake in NTPC via IPO
Trough the public offer it expects to raise around Rs 6,000 crore
New Delhi, Aug 30: India’s biggest power generation facility, National Thermal power Corp (NTPC) will soon see major change in its shareholding pattern. The government plans to divest 4.75 percent of its stake in NTPC Ltd, through a public offer that could fetch it nearly Rs 6,000 crore. Power Ministry, acting on a request from the state-run firm has approached the Department of Disinvestment in Ministry of finance for approval of a Follow on public offer (FPO) of 4.75 percent shares, offer sources said.
In February 2004, the government allowed NTPC to go for an IPO of 10 percent of its paid-up capital in one or more stages to augment resources. The company chose to go for an IPO of 5.25 percent, leaving balance 4.75 percent of approved IPO for later date. …

GMR to invest Rs 35,000 Crore in five year for expansion
New Delhi, Aug 30: Infrastructure major G M R Group, which has undergone organizational restructuring is likely to invest Rs 35,000 core in the next five years for expanding in various sectors such as airports and power at home and abroad. “Our advisor’s have working with us to chart out future plans for us in areas such as power, airports and SEZs. We have already formulated a strategy, which will see us expanding both in India and overseas,” GMR Group Chairman G M Rao said.
He said the group was actively pursuing all possible opportunities in India and abroad. The group, which is currently working on major projects in power, airport and SEZs in India, is now looking to take up similar endeavours abroad, he said.

Apollo Health Street(AHS), a health care outsourcing arm of the Apollo group, has acquired the Atlanta based BPO and enterprise support solutions company, Zavata for Rs. 697crore.This was the fourth acquisition for Apollo Health Street and the second in the U.S. provider space.The takeover would strengthen AHS’s position as a leading provider of outsourcing solutions in the health care industry, according to the Chairman of Apollo Health Street, Prathap C Reddy said Bank of India and Barclays Capital had structured a debt for Rs. 550crore. The balance would be from internal accrual, of which 50 per cent would be from Apollo Group of Hospitals and the balance from other promoters. BHEL bags Ennore power project order
Outbidding leading European power equipment suppliers under international competitive bidding, Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd.(BHEL)on Thursday won an order for the supply and installation of steam generator and steam turbine packages at the upcoming Vallur thermal power project at Ennore in Tamil Nadu, involving two units of 500 MW each. According to BHEL spokesman, the order, valued at over Rs.1,990crore,is is for the green field power project being executed by National Thermal Power Corporation and Tamil Nadu Energy Company Ltd.(NTECL).

SAP Labs India will work on developing a web-based application product in the coming months as part of its strategy to grow further in this market from 24.6 per cent share now, SAP AG Chief Executive Officer and chairman of the Executive Board, Henning Kagermann, said here on Thursday. Speaking to reporters after inaugurating SAP’s 3.50lakh sq. ft. facility to eventually seat 2,000 employees, he said, “it will be global product, partly developed in India, meeting the needs of medium and small sized business in this region.”
