Hyderabad City Colleges Gearup

Hyderabad will be swinging to the tunes of the biggest inter-col-legiate festival as the Times youthopia 07 kicks off today. In a first of its kind initiative in the city, the three-day bonanza will see the best student talents from colleges strutting their stuff.Sharing his excitement,Hanah Malik,a representive of Villa Marie says, ” Youthopia is a great platform for students to showcase their talents. We are expecting as many as 8,000 to 10,00 students to take part in the festivities spread over three days. It’s going to be one rocking festival.”
A core group of students helped the Times Of India give shapes to the event.”The events have been chosen with great care, taking into account the latest trends.For example, you do not have events like war of DJ’s at inter-collegiate dos.Also, the idea is to have maximum participation,” says MA Tameem. Dance competitions, debates, War of the DJ’s, singing, fashion shows and rock band shows will keep the spirit soaring.
In the wake of the blasts, security issues have been addressed adequately.”we have three entries equipped with metal detectors, where every one will be frisked with a hand held detector.No bags will be allowed.Apart from police security, 100 private security guards will be manning the Nizam college grounds the venue. There is no reason to worry,” says Raspal Singh, a student of Bhavan’s and a committee member.
Day 2 of the fest, on September 1, will have a celebrity performance by singer,Kailash kher. The final day will also see performances by college rock bands. Crowing of a Mr and Ms youthopia will mark the closure. The entry is restricted only to students who have valid college ID cards. The students can vote for their respective colleges to help their teams win.
