Finally Salman walks out of Jail
Around 6 pm on Friday, Salman Khan stepped out of Jodhpur Central Jail and walked into freedom. Dressed in blue jeans and white shirt with sleeves rolled up, sporting a black and grey cap with a bag slung over his shoulder, the relaxed Bollywood star waved to his fans waiting to prison. In jail since Saturday, he had spent 148 hours behind bars. Sentenced to five years for poaching a chinkara, the actor was granted bail by the Rajastan HC justice HR panwar who ordered his release on the condition of furnishing a personal bond of Rs 1 lakh and two surety bonds of Rs 50,000 each.
Salman’s brother and sister Sohail Khan and Alvira greeted each other in the packed courtroom after the judge gave the bail order and then came out to linform their parents over telephone . The sentence will remain suspended till the order on the star’s revision petition is pronounced. Salman has been asked to appear before the court on Oct 24. After he came out of the jail premises, the Bollywood beekcake was immediately whisked away by his encourage to his hotel where he was united with girl friend Katrina Kaif and family. Shortly they left for airport, Salman by then had changed into a body hugging white T-shirt. The Salman clan then flew to Mumbai in a charted plane.
The star’s lawyers completed the formalities for the actor’s release within a few hours of the bail order. The judge pronouncd the order after hearing arguments for three hours on his revision petition along with the bail application. Salman’s case was argued by Supreme Court lawyer Udai lalit, Mumbai based advocate Dipesh Mehta and local lawyer HM saraswat while additional advocate general Kanti Lal Thakur responded to the arguments. Salman was on bail since April last year when he was released after spending three days in prison in connection with a poaching case.
