Monica Bedi’s acquittal upheld in Passport Forgery Case
An appeal against the acquittal of Monica Bedi in a passport forgery case was dismissed on Thursday by a district court in Bhopal. district and sesions judge Renu Sharma said Madhya Pradesh police did’t have enough evidence to prove Monica guilty.
The police had challenged the verdict of the chif judicial magistrate in Bhopal, who in July released Monica from charges of cheating and forgery against her. On Thursday, judge Sharma dismissed the state’s plea against the verdict of the chief judicial magistrate’s court.
The judge observed that the madhya Pradesh police didn’t have enough evidence to prove have enough evidence to prove Monica guilty and where they had evidence, the prosecution couldn’t link it to the forgery case. The court also ordered that the state launch an inquiry against the passport and police officials who issued three fake passports to Abu Salem, his wife Sameera Jumani and girlfriend Monica Bedi.
