Gokul Chat may remain closed for some time

bbThe owners of Gokul Chat, which was the Worst hit in the twin blasts of August 25, have been advised by police to put off the reopening of their shop until Ganesh immersion following intellilgence inputs that terrorist might resort to an other strike.

“We have been asked not to reopen till Ganesh immersion. Even after that, we will have to wait for police clearance to open the shop,” Rajesh Warghee, son of one of the owners Mukund Das told. As many as 29 people were killed in the bomb blast at the chat joint. The owner who were under treatment for injuries sustained during the blast after recovery had approached city police commissioner Balwinder Singh on Sept 4 for permission to reopen the place. The commissioner reportedly told them that the police were on the alert to prevent any attempts by militants to create terror in the city during the Ganesh festival. The owner in formed the commissionser that their 40 families were directly dependent on the fast food joint for their livelihood while another 300 people, who comprise the chat centre’s employees families were also dependent on the shop for their livelihood. The family is planning to meet CM Y S Rajasekhara Reddy to seek permission to reopen the shop soon.

Meanwhile, owners and family members of Gokul Chat who were injured in the blast and admitted to Aditya Hospital at Boggulkunta were discharged. They included Puneet, Gulabchand, Vittal Rao and Naval Kishore
