Man dies of gunshot wound at Keshava Rao son’s flatPrasanth Reddy’s kin reject police’s view of it being suicide case

A real estate dealer of Prasanth Reddy (32) died of gunshot wounds in a flat owned by APCC president K. Keshava Rao’s son Venkat Rao at Prashasan Nagar in Jubilee Hills on Sunday afternoon. Mr. Reddy, said to be a close friend of Mr. Rao, came to the letters residence in Valley View Enclave to discuss a business transaction around 3.30 pm.A little while later, Mr. Reddy, who was sitting on a sofa watching television, was found in a poll of blood with a bullet injury on his right temple. According to police, Mr. Reddy, Mr. Venkata Rao, his wife Divya and a servant were present in the house. Mr. Rao and his wife were making arrangements for the lunch, when they heard a gunshot and rushed from the dining hall to find Mr. Reddy lying on his to find Mr. Reddy lying on his side with a bullet injury. Mr. reddy had used Mr. Venkat Rao’s .32 revolver to shoot himself, the police said. He was rushed to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills by Mr. Venkat Rao in his car. The doctor at the hospital declared him brought dead. The police said preliminary investigation pointed towards a case of suicide.

‘Not a coward’

However, Mr. Reddy’s father Raghavendra Reddy and brother Prithviraj Reddy told reporters that Mr. Reddy was not a coward to end his life. “It is clearly a case of murder due to business dealings,” they mentained. Mr. Venkat Rao’s family members, however, said that Mr. Reddy shot himself withthe former’s licensed weapon. “Prashant Reddy knew where the weapon was kept,” they pointed out. Dr. Keshava Rao, who rushed to the city from Karimnagar, told reporters that he would not interfere in the police officials. The Jubilee Hills police cordoned off the scene of offence. For over five hours, media personnel were not allowed inside the house.

North Zone DCP N. Madhusudan Redy visited the place. A Clues team and forensic officials seized the revolver, five live rounds and two cellular phones. It may be mentioned here that Mr. Venkat Rao and Mr. Reddy were in the news a few months ago for allgedly threatening at gunpoint V. Ramakant Reddey, a former India volleyball captain.

A land dispute in Macheswaram mandal was cited as the reason for the dispute but the two sides later arrived at a ‘compromise’.
