RTA services likely to be web enabled by December

rtaThe proposed web enabled services of the Regional Transport Authority(RTA) will be in operation be December this year.

The Mumbai-based CMS Service has bagged the contract to provide the new software at hyderabad, Vijayawada and Cuddapah at a cost of Rs 4.8 crore each. The three projects for the above mentioned places were underway and already the bidder was working on customisation and stabilisation of the software. A deadline of 140 days from July 18 had been set for bidder to provide the software, failing which a penalty of Rs 1,000 per day would be levied, said Joint Transport Commissioner, N.V. Subha Rao. Under the web enabled services or Service Oriented Architecture obtaining driving licence applications or performing any other transaction at the RTA offices would be made easy. Excepting for transactions where teh mandatory presence of the applicant and the vehicle was required, tje rest could be applied online and a slot time woiuld be given with a code number s acknowledgement. Later, applications could collect their documents from the respective RTA offices.

To avoid manipulation of data, biometric measurements from applicants would be taken at select centres, Mr. Rao said. The service for three years at Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Cuddapah and basing on the performance of the software provided, plans would be made to introduce the services all over the State.
