Forget this game, Dhoni tells teammates
Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on Thursday asked his team to “forget the humiliating nine wicket loss against Australia in the fifth Onedayer and concentrate on the remaining matches of the seven match series. “We need to forget this matches to play with our full capacity and for that we have to forget this game,” Dhoni said.
But despite the Indian batsmen crumbling like house of cards against Australia in the fifth Onedayer, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni not only refused to blame the batsmen for the defeat but also described them as the best line up at his disposal.
“Sachin, Sourav and Rahul, followed by Yuvaraj, Rpbin and me is the best order we have got,” Dhoni said after the nine wicket thrashing. “If we get good starts then we can accelerate to five or six an over in the last 30 overs, ” he said.
Dhoni said nothing except toss went right for us. We lost early wickets, did not have partnerships as we lost wickets at regular intervals. Sachin was the only one who batted beautifully apart from our last wicket pair.
His counterpart Ricky Pointing said Australia’s performance against India was flawless and said it was possible because of the homework his team had done.
“It has been our best performance of the series so far,’ Pointing said.
