Probe links Huji to Ajmer blast
Leads in the Ajmer blast case are pointing to the involvement of Harkat ul-jehad i islami. The blast at the famous dargah of Khwaja Moinuddin chisti may have been planned by Huji operative Shahis Bilal.
Operations like the blasts at Ajmer were usually planned weeks, if not months in advance and evidence gathered to the handiwork of Bilal, whose associates and family members are being questioned in the Hyderabad terror strikes.
The links of Huzi are widespread even though most operations in which the group has hit targets in india have been launched from Bangladesh. But the group reach Bangladesh. But the group’s reach is now far flung with it reamming up with terror outfits in West Asia while Huji operatives, like Bilal, travel to Pakistan as well. These developments, partucularly dealing with Bilal’s role, were shared with TOI by sources in the delegation accompanying the Prime minister who reached Nigeria on the first leg of his visit to Africa. He will be travellling to South Africa next. the HuJI link surfaced after the phone and SIM card in the dargah, which did not go off as the battery failed to deliver the current, wsa of the same lot used in Hyderabad terror attacks. The SIMS were bought in Guwahati on the basis of forged drivers licence with a photo of a well known ayurvedic practitioner. The phones were also part of the Nokia 3310 series used in the Hyderabs terror strikes.
Huji has in the past lent its foot soldiers to other terror groups like LeT and Jaish-e-Mohammed.
