Overseas Indian Scientist Return Home for Career in ISRO

India’s first lunar mission Chandrayaan-1 has successfully launched and it has inspired many Indian space scientists working abroad to return home for a promising career in
ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation).

Chandrayaan-1, our moon mission made tremendous interest in the space scientists all over the world and successful launch has made all the abroad Indian space scientist to think and return to India and make their career prospects further working in this organization. Space Agency launched Chandrayaan, and it is started on October 22 from Sriharikota spaceport, and is located near about 80 km north of Chennai.

State-run ISRO’s human resource department is receiving applications from abroad, and the official who didn’t want to be named confirmed that their enquiries for job prospects in the space agency. There are several enquiries at personal level like for example director of chandrayaan, “M. Annadurai” got some e-mail from scientists, mostly of Indian origin, congratulating him for the lunar mission and offering to join the space agency.

Many persons like PIOs, NASA and ESA began their career as scientists in ISRO or in Indian academic/research institutes. The officials said that policy of the Indian space agency will not recruit foreign nationals. Only Indian born scientists and PIOs are eligible to apply in ISRO. Prime Minister “Manmohan Singh” kept packages for scientists working in the space organisation and the atomic energy agency on the basis of the Sixth Pay Commission.

The upcoming graduating students will have a five year bond to work in the organisation. They get oriented to work on space application and programmers, with opportunity to do projects at our various facilities and about 90% of ISRO scientists/engineers are graduated from Top institutes like National Institutes of Technology, Bits Pilani and Indian Institute of Technology and also other top engineering universities/colleges.
